On the 14th of October, the parish of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Geelong celebrated its feast. The solemn celebration began with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, which was presided over by Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, with the concelebration of Father Iurii Tychenok, pastor of the parish, Father Ruslan Babii, deacons and numerous faithful. Everyone sublimely united in prayer, asking the Mother of God for intercession, especially for peace for our long-suffering Ukraine.

During the sermon, Bishop Mykola drew attention to the historical aspect of the feast and its relevance in our time, noting: “In these days, when Ukraine is going through great trials related to the full-scale military aggression of russia and the part occupation of our land, we again run to the feet of the Most Holy Theotokos, trusting the Ukrainian army under the invincible protection of our Heavenly Intercessor Mother. Let us be sure that even when we humanly feel powerless in this situation of war, the Heavenly Mother gives us the strength to stand, not to break, not to fall but to live, understanding that we are not alone in times of war: God is with us and also the Most Holy Theotokos is with us”.

The faithful approached the Holy Communion in large numbers, thanking the Lord for His favors. After the Liturgy, all the parishioners and guests of the church sang the prayer “O God, Great and Mighty”, after which the ceremony of consecration of water took place.

Having taken care of the spiritual food, the parishioners and guests went to the feast table, where everyone was treated to delicious dishes. After praying together with the congregation, Bishop Mykola blessed the food. Talented parishioners and guests on the occasion of the parish feast prepared many greetings, giving warm words, insightful singing, touching poetry and generous gifts.
