Dear faithful of the Melbourne Eparchy of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul,

Last Sunday, His Holiness Pope Francis addressed the entire Catholic world and all  people of good will with a request for an all-day prayer for peace in Ukraine on January 26. As faithful sons and daughters of our church, we respond to the Pontiff’s call.

Today I ask you to join the whole church in prayer for peace in Ukraine, which will take place on January 26 from 6 pm to 6 am Melbourne time. At 8:30 pm Melbourne time, we will unite in prayer, with a Moleben to Christ the Lover of Mankind from the  Cathedral of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Melbourne. I urge you all to spend this day in prayer and fasting.

When the news from all the media is heard every day, depriving us of our peace, when fear takes over our hearts, the Lord says to us, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t worry, because I am your God! I will give you strength, I will help you, I will support you with my victorious right hand ”(Is. 41, 10). As believers, we place all our trust in God and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mother of God of Perpetual Help!

Today we as your children, bow our heads before You and ask for peace for the Ukrainian land, protect us from visible and invisible enemies who want to harm us. For we have no other help, we have no other hope but You, Immaculate Virgin. Help us, we hope in You and we praise You, because we are Your servants, so that we will not be ashamed, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.
