Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral Parish in North Melbourne, received a bequest from the late Paul and Maria Ciupak, the painting titled “Thousand Years of Christianity in Ukraine” painted by their daughter Yarina Lachowich. This painting depicts Saints Olga and Volodymyr. It was painted to commemorate the millennium of Christianity in Ukraine in 1988 and had been displayed for many years in the late Mr. and Mrs. Ciupak’s home. It was their dear wish that the painting be donated to the Church. She also wrote the icon of Resurrection of Christ which is located in the crypt of the Cathedral. Some of her works can be found in Ukrainian Community Halls and parishioner’s homes.
Mrs. Yarina Lachowicz is a well-known painter in Melbourne and a member of the Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul in North Melbourne. She has won awards and has had several painting exhibitions of her works.
We are grateful for this donation.
