Bishop Mykola Bychok, together with Father Ruslan Babii, Deacon Mykhailo Zylan, the altar brotherhood and all the faithful, served the Funeral Liturgy and Memorial for the fallen defenders of Ukraine.

Father Ruslan addressed the faithful with an instructive word about the devotion and love for Ukraine of our defenders, emphasized the courage and sacrifice of our heroes, who give their lives every day for the freedom of our country: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.(John 15:13).”

The father also reflected on the figure of Simon of Cyrene: “During the Way of the Cross of Jesus, Simon had his own affairs and did not even know what was waiting for him, but Jesus needed his help. One man, Simon of Cyrene, did a great thing by giving up his plans for that day , he helped the Savior carry the cross and thereby took part in our Redemption.”

Reflecting on the deed of Simon Kyrinei, the father emphasized that each of us can also contribute to the victory of Ukraine with our prayer and fasting. Such actions are a very important help especially for our military.

At the end, everyone together prayed the Panachyda, remembering all those who died for the freedom of Ukraine and asking God to grant their souls the Kingdom of Heaven.
