Eparchy Welcomes fr. Andriy Mykytyuk

Our Ardeer Parish welcomed its new, long awaited parish priest on April 25, 2018.

Fr Andriy, his wife, Olesia, children, Andriy Lev, Yeremia and Bohuslava arrived on a late evening flight from Lviv, Ukraine. In a sense it was a “welcome home.” Fr Andriy and his family are all Australian citizens as he had worked in Australia 5 years ago.

The Ardeer Parish has been very busy preparing for Fr Andriy’s return lately. A number of parishioners were at the airport to welcome their new pastor and his family.

Fr Andriy has arrived 40 days after the death of Fr Zenon Chorkawyj its former pastor. The Ardeer parish is a new parish in the Eparchy. It became a parish on the 19th August 2001. Fr Ihor Bakay was the first parish priest. The parish church was built in 1963. It was a “mission” of the North Melbourne parish before then.

We all pray that the ministry of Fr. Andriy will be blessed by God and that the number of parishioners will continue to grow.
