Metropolitan Antony (John Scharba) visited Bishop Peter on Friday, February 10 at the Chancery Office in North Melbourne.

He was accompanied by the Head of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in Australia, Very Rev. Michael Solomko from Canberra.  Fr Olexander Kenez and Br Brian Kelty attended the meeting as well.

Metropolitan Antony only recently accepted responsibility for the Church in Australia. He has jurisdiction over Western Europe, USA, Latin America, and now Australia and New Zealand.  He is affiliated with the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

The meeting was very cordial. There are very good relationships between the Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox Churches in Australia.

Bishop Peter invited the clergy of the Orthodox Church to attend the May conference in Warburton, Victoria which will be discussing the modern youth culture. Metropolitan Anthony suggested that a number of priests and a lay person would attend the three day meeting.

The two churches will seek ways in which further co-operation will be possible.
