Bishop Peter Stasiuk has invited the faithful of the Eparchy to visit the Ukrainian Catholic Community in Hobart, Tasmania on Sunday, 12th June 2016
Every few years in the past, the faithful from the mainland have visited Hobart for a friendship and solidarity meeting. It is time to do it again.
Bishop Peter and a couple of priests from Melbourne are planning to attend. There will be a Liturgy at the Chapel in the community hall on Sunday, 12th June at 10:00 am. A lunch will follow. After lunch there will be an opportunity for fellowship. In the past, there was time for music and singing. Groups from the mainland plus local groups stepped up for a little entertainment.
This year the very well-known and popular group “Rodyna” from Melbourne have said that they will attend. Others are welcome if they wish so. Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the travellers.
“There has been a local Ukrainian community in Tasmania for many years.” Bishop Peter said. “It is not too big, and it does need support and encouragement from the rest of Australia.”
The official icon of the “Mother of Mercy” will be brought to Hobart for the day. This will be a “Year of Mercy” event in our Eparchy. We will see you there.
The Ukrainian Hall is located at 185 Main Road, Moonah, Tasmania.
