Mr Felix Figurek has taken over responsibility as Editor for Church and Life starting with the June 2015 edition.
The Australian Ukrainian Newspaper has recently celebrated its’ 55th Anniversary of serving the Ukrainian community of Australia.
The newspaper will have a new journalists as well. Recently arrived from Ukraine, Mariana Katolyk will cover news and events in Victoria. There already are correspondents in Sydney and New Zealand. “It is the aim of our newspaper”, Bishop Peter said, “to have a journalist in each of our centres in Australia and New Zealand. We are very aware of the changing circumstances in society today. There is a greater use of social media, i.e. Facebook, but many people still need to have a newspaper in their hands.” He added, “we have a very young team on the editorial board. The paper now has an increasing view of the importance of reaching out to our young people. There is so much that the internet cannot do. Church and Life has a yet unreached potential and we want to explore that.”
All of us together owe Mr Bohdan Rudnytski, the retiring Ukrainian editor, our gratitude and thanks for his wonderful leadership and skills that he brought to the newspaper as editor. We also thank and acknowledge Mr Symon Kohut the English edition and his English journalist, Tatianna Lawriwsky. At the same time we welcome Felix and Mariana to the editorial board. Church and Life will see exciting time ahead. Bishop Peter concluded with the hope that all Ukrainian communities and parishes will contribute their ideas and material to Church and Life.
