On Saturday 5th July 2014, seven people formed a working bee to work on the project. Beside the foreman Nick Dmyterko, there were Mario Zocchi, Thomas Miljenovic, Vasili Bautin, Chris Carson, and Fr. Stefan Sapun. Even Bishop Peter worked all day to prepare the chapel.

The parishioners at our Brisbane parish are busy preparing for the visit of His Beatitude Patriarch Sviatoslav. The church and all the buildings at 36 and 40 Broadway St, Woolloongabba, are being repaired and repainted from top to bottom and inside and out. The roof is being replaced. The inside of the church is being repainted. First of all, it was time to do this but now the Patriarch is coming as well.

The first day of the Patriarchal visit to Brisbane will be at Marian Valley where the parish is building a chapel which will be dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. For many years now the local parish has been visiting the site twice a year. About 5-6 years ago, Fr. Jarko Pasok and the Parish council decided to build a Ukrainian chapel. That work is now being finished under the supervision of Fr. Stefan Sapun, contractor Nicholas Dmyterko, and architect Stephen Chomyn. It is our hope that this will become a national shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary for our church.

There is a certain air of expectation. His Beatitude will be pleased at the work of the Brisbane parish.
