On Friday, 29th May 2020, Natalia Markina from Melbourne delivered a very beautiful Holy Icon to the parish.

The one metre by one and half meter icon of “Our Mother of Mercy” arrived as a symbol of hope in this time of crisis.

Natalia, who was our resident icon writer and teacher at the cathedral for a couple of years, worked on the Holy Icon for months.

It will replace the temporary icon of the Mother of Mercy which has been in our cathedral since the Year of Mercy in 2016.

This new icon will be blessed as soon as possible.
