A leading authority in Ukrainian spirituality and liturgy is coming to Australia, Bishop Venedykt Aleksiychuk, the Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv, Ukraine, and chairman of the Liturgical Commission of our Synod will be present in our parishes to share his love for our church and her prayer. He will be in Australia from 20th May to 9th June 2016.
He will arrive in Perth on Friday, 20th May and depart for Adelaide on 21st May. He will be present at the Sunday Liturgy in Adelaide. He will fly to Melbourne on Tuesday, 24th May. On 25th May, he will visit Geelong and on 26th May Ardeer.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 27th to 29th May, Bishop Venedykt will conduct a three day retreat at the Cathedral. A Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, 27th May at 10:00 am and a Moleben at 7:00 pm that evening. On Saturday morning, he will visit the Ukrainian school and have another meeting with the parishioners at 1:30 pm for a talk and barbeque for all present.
Sunday, 29th May, will be a very big day at the Cathedral parish. Bishop Venedykt will speak at the 9:30 am Divine Liturgy. It will also be the day of the ordination to the priesthood of Deacon Justin McDonnell. Ukraine’s ambassador to Australia, Mr. Mykola Kulinich, will be present at the service at the Cathedral.
From Monday to Friday, 30th May to 3rd June, Bishop Venedykt will be at the Eparchial retreat in Warburton, Victoria.
Friday evening he will fly to Sydney where he will conduct another three day retreat.
On 7th and 8th June, he will travel to Canberra to meet the parishioners and then fly to Brisbane on 8th June.
