Basilian Sisters Celebrations begin

The Basilian Sisters came to Australia for missionary work in 1967 at the invitation of Bishop Ivan Prasko, and the encouragement of Patriarch Joseph Slipyj. They first settled in Sydney, and then moved to work in Melbourne and Adelaide.

In their 50 years of service the Sisters have visited all our Ukrainian communities around Australia. They are very involved in Catechetics  and care of all age groups, especially the sick and the home bound.

The 50th Anniversary celebrations began in Sydney on Sunday, February 12 and will continue in Melbourne on February 19. Other parishes will have celebrations as well

Very soon every parish in Australia will have a parish mission which will be preached by Fr Ihor Kolisnyk from New Zealand. These missions and other activities will be held through this Anniversary year

The whole Eparchy is joining in prayers of thanksgiving for 50 years of service of the Basilian Sisters in our Eparchy.
