On the parish feast day of Sts Peter & Paul, archdeacon Edward was ordained a deacon on Sunday, 9th July 2000, at the Cathedral.
Protodeacon Edward has served the Melbourne parish for the past 20 years, enriching our Sunday Divine Liturgies, both at 9.30am and 11.30am, helping out with funerals, baptisms, weddings, home visits, home blessings, parent religious education and other duties when required and when his time allowed.

He began his studies for the deaconate in 1995. During the last 16 years, he has been actively engaged in the altar servers’ programme and catechism.
On Saturday, 7th January 2017, during the Christmas Day Liturgy, Deacon Edward Kostraby was elevated to the rank of Archdeacon or Protodeacon by Bishop Peter Stasiuk.
