As Bishop Peter in this shared homily with the children, reminded the children, they on this day had reached a level of maturity and responsibility in their journey to a life in Christ.

They fully understood what happed at the last supper and have accepted the initiation to receive the Body and Blood of Christ and accept that this is a foundation of their Christian faith.

Bishop Peter led the class of 2019 to a discussion of the role of parents and their brothers and sisters in their Christian lives. They stated that obeying parents is just as important as obeying God. Living in peace and harmony with their brothers and sisters is a recognition that all humans are loved by God and are children of God. That makes all human beings on earth our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our salvation depends on our being able to recognize this special relationship.

Fr. Brian Kelty and Fr. Peter Struk participated in the celebrations as did Deacons Edward Kostraby and Michael Zylan.

The children read the scriptures and prayers very well. They also sang many of the responses of the Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian.

The children in the class of 2019 stated that they especially wanted to thank the Basillian Sisters, Srs Lukia and Macryna, for the 4 months of preparation for the big occasion. The children read the scriptures and prayers very well. They also sang many of the responses of the Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian.

In his closing remarks, Bishop Peter invited the children and their families and friends to continue to come to the liturgy each Sunday and to grow into a stronger relationship with Jesus.
