The Head and Father of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav welcome the first resident ambassador to Ukraine from Australia at a reception by the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Australia. The Patriarch of the Church expressed his joy to the new ambassador on the occasion of his appointment, till now Ukraine has never had an ambassador from Australia. His Beatitude Sviatoslav reminded the ambassador that before he could come to Australia for pastoral visit last year he had to apply for an Australian visa in Moscow.
The Head of the Church expressed his expectation of co-operation, because 38 000 Ukrainians live in Australia. Besides that Australia today is an important partner of Ukraine on the international field.
At the request of the general secretary of the world congress of Ukrainians, Mr Stefan Romaniw, His Beatitude open the evening with the prayer “Our Father” in Ukrainian and English.
Mr Peter Shmigel the external affairs spokesman of AFUO spoke about important Australians of Ukrainian origin.
