Reflection of the Week

By: Very Rev Olexander Kenez  on: Wed 01 of Sep., 2010 12:45 EST  (239 Reads)
For Sunday 5.9.10
Today we see an interesting side of the life of Christ. The establishment was trying to provoke Him to make a serious mistake in order to put Him off side with the people. A member of the establishment asked Him. 'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?'
37 Jesus said , 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.
39 The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.
40 On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'
This is a bit frightening. Jesus is telling us that love is more important than achievement. Jesus tells us that our relationships are fundamental to our life. Let us spend a bit of time thinking about this. Are we really people who put a loving relationship ahead of power? This is a challenging question.

I would like to thank you for a most memorable experience in Australia. Over the many years I have made scores of trips to various countries and eparchies but this trip that you hosted and organized with your dedicated priests and lay co-workers was definitely the most gratifying trip that I have ever made.....
